The three-story reinforced concrete building
of Siroyama Primary school stood on top of a rerdant hill,and
the school was well known for its style of education stressing
"love".
Located only about 500 meters west of the hypocenter,the buildings
were devastated and the trees around it almost completely revaged
by the explosion of the atomic bomb at 11:02 a.m.,August 9,1945.
The school is now the site of a number of facilities and monuments
related to the atomic bombing,and it continues to promote peace
studies in addition to prayers for the victims at a peace ceremony
on the ninth of every month.
