1.Atomic Bomb-Exposed Japanese Pepper Tree


Shiroyama Primary School,which is located on a hill about 500meters west of the hypocenter,was devastated by the explosion of the atomic bomb at 11:02 a.m.,August 9,1945.Most of the trees standing around the school were also crushed and kill.

This Japanese pepper tree managed to survire the blast but is now leaning against a muku tree.It lost its bark and still shows evidence of burns,but its vitality continues to encourage everyone who visits the school.
